Is Black Friday really the best time to buy things for your home?
Planning big purchases for your home? Knowing the best time to buy can help you save big! You might think Black Friday and Holiday sales are the best time of year to buy, but for certain items the wait could save you some bucks! In our list of things to purchase for your home you can see if Black Friday is worth the purchase or if you should wait just a bit longer!
Large Appliances: September, October, and January. Manufacturers roll out new home appliance models in these months, and retailers are eager to move last year’s inventory. However, refrigerators are the exception; new models generally come out in the spring. For dishwashers, December is the best month to buy. Also, Thursdays are a good day to buy because the stores are less crowded before the weekend rush. The last days of the month are also good because stores want to meet quotas and may be more likely to bargain over prices.
Air Conditioners & Gas Grills: Fall and winter are the best time for these purchases because most buyers don’t think about warm-weather appliances in the off season, and stores want to get rid of these items to make room for new items in the spring.
Indoor Furniture: January is a great month to buy furniture (post-Christmas sales, new styles are released in February, etc.). However, July wins out because bringing your furniture home in the winter is no fun, plus overall furniture sales are down in the summer which makes the discounts go up.
Outdoor Furniture: Stores begin clearing out their summer items in July and August to make room for their fall inventory, so August through October are the best months to purchase your outdoor furniture.
Gardening Tools: You can save up to 50% on all gardening tools during February through April. For lawnmowers, April-May and August-October are usually your best bet for discounts.
Snowblowers & Other Winter Equipment: You’ll be the best deals in the spring at the end of the season
Carpets, Flooring & Linens, and Home Decor: Wait until January when prices have been lowered to move inventory.
Cookware and Kitchen Essentials: Stores sometimes run sales on cookware and kitchen essentials in late spring/early summer because it is a popular gift for newlyweds and graduating college students.
Mattresses: Retailers usually offer discounts between February-May to make room for new models. Holiday weekends such as President’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Black Friday are also great times.
Power Tools: Father’s Day sales typically begin in the beginning of June and offer discounts on lots of tools. Black Friday and Cyber Monday in November are also great times to buy power tools.
Televisions and Home Theaters: January is typically a good time because the Super Bowl brings out the best deals on both big-screen TVs and home theaters. Black Friday is also a good time for big sales.
Vacuum Cleaners: New models are released in time for spring cleaning, so April sales result in lower prices on older models.
