Mapleton Hill
Home to many of Boulder’s historic homes, Mapleton is the oldest neighborhood in the city. Officially declared one of Boulder’s historical districts in 1982, most of Mapleton Hill’s homes are more than a century old. The maple trees provide gorgeous red foliage during the fall. The Squires-Tourtellot house at 1019 Spruce Street, built in 1865, is believed to be Boulder’s oldest house. To the south, Mapleton Hill is bordered by downtown, making it easy for residents to walk to all that Boulder has to offer. Mt. Sanitas acts as a natural border for the west side of the neighborhood, and is a local favorite for hikes.
