Downtown
On Pearl Street, most homes are newly built condos and apartments. Just north of Pearl, tree-lined streets around the Mapleton Hill area are filled with beautiful historic homes. East Pearl, which continues to the 29 th Street Mall area, is the quieter side of downtown. The Pearl Street Mall is a famous pedestrian-only shopping and dining district stretching from 11th Street to 15th Street. Broadway runs through the middle of the mall, roughly dividing West and East Pearl. The mall, which is filled with flowers, sculptures, fountains, and street performers, is the heart of downtown Boulder. There are too many restaurants to name, but the ornate, handcrafted Dushanbe Teahouse, gifted to Boulder in 1987 by its sister city Dushanbe, Tajikistan, is not to be missed. Downtown is also the location of the historic Boulder Theater.
