Lafayette is an old coal mining town between Denver and Boulder with 31,000 residents spread over 9.3 square miles. The Boulder County city is surrounded by a greenbelt, making it perfect for an active Colorado lifestyle of biking, hiking, and running, and Waneka Lake in the middle of town offers paddle boating and canoeing. The charming Old Town area has plenty of great dining and shopping destinations, along with historic mining homes amongst large trees. In the Old Town area, there’s always something to celebrate. Residents are invited to join the city in celebrating the Oatmeal Festival, the Peach Festival, and countless others throughout the year. The Fourth of July celebration draws residents from neighboring towns as well as those who live in Lafayette.
