Colorado’s Favorite Everything Store: McGuckin Hardware

McGuckin Hardware

2525 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, CO 80302 • 303-443-1822

It all began in 1955 when the company’s namesake, a rugged, avid fisherman named Llewellyn Commodore “Bill” McGuckin, opened the doors of McGuckin Hardware. Employing four people in four departments, his success was based on his belief in personalized service, selection and first-hand experience.

In 1960, Dave Hight became a partner in McGuckin Hardware with his father-in-law, Bill. Together they sought to create a quality hardware store with a reputation for excellent service and selection. Working from this solid base, Dave carried on McGuckin Hardware’s dedication to service from the time of Bill’s death in 1966 until his own passing in 2021.

Staying within a block of its original location in Boulder, McGuckin Hardware has continued to grow. It currently employs around an average of 250 people in 18 different departments ranging from Garden to Housewares to Automotive – just to name a few. The store is 60,000+ square feet of sales floor selling nearly 200,000 items. With all of the growth, McGuckin Hardware continues to strive to meet Dave and Bill’s goals of providing personalized service, selection, and first-hand experience.

Whatever you may need for your projects, the knowledgeable “Green Vests” in each department will help you make it come to life. Or just come to browse this Boulder institution to find things you didn’t know you needed!
